Why Christ Came

The month of December lends itself well to the reading of a devotional or meditation each day, whether in private or aloud with family and/or friends. Why Christ Came is purposely suited for this, both in its Christmas content and its format. Each daily reading focuses on one reason Christ came to earth in human form as a baby. The reasons are found in Scripture, using the whole scope of the Bible to demonstrate God’s love in coming to redeem sinners. And if 31 reasons weren’t enough the preface also includes 10 more, each with a Scripture reference. A sampling of the reasons include “To Give Eternal Life”, “To Bear Witness to the Truth”, ”To Fulfill the Law and the Prophets”, and “To Demonstrate True Humility”.
Each selection is approximately 3 pages. A Scripture passage begins the day’s reading. Each day can be read devotionally and then can also be used as the basis for an in depth study by investigating the many Scripture references included in the text itself. The authors also make each selection personal, addressing the reader directly, asking questions and making application.
This slim volume is well worth the time spent and would also make an excellent Advent gift.
