Books for and About Christmas

c w knerr

During this season of the year, when we commemorate our Savior's birth, we are bombarded with the secular message of fun and frivolity, often in direct opposition to the wonderful, joyous message of the incarnation.  To help keep our minds Christ-centered, here are two books focusing on the Incarnation.

A particularly well-written book to encouraging us this Christmastime is Paul David Tripp's book, Come, Let Us Adore Him.  This book can either be used as daily readings during Advent or as short devotionals during the Christmas season, or any season.  Each selection contains a Scripture passage for further study, a statement of the central theme and a question for families (and others) to answer.

  • Have you ever connected the book of Proverbs with Christmas?  Steve Estes did and has written a little book of thoughts, meditations, personal stories and inspiration blending Proverbs and Christmas with a little exhortation thrown in.  The book is funny and poignant, revealing and thought-provoking.  The pen and ink drawings are an added bonus.
